Fishing Report June 30, 2021
a Big brown taken on the Fat Albert,

Flows in the river are stable and the weather and water temperatures are ideal for Stoneflies, Caddis and PMDs- all of which are very active. Cicadas are also out in good numbers which increases the odds that even the most elusive fish will be looking up. Guests have had consistent success fishing a large Fat Albert trailed by a Stonefly nymph. We are also seeing an incredible nightly hatch of PMD’s that makes for fast fishing during the last few hours of daylight.

Stillwater fishing in Jackson Lake has also been excellent. Three different guides on three different occasions have spotted a massive 25-30+ inch brown cruising along the edges in the shallows. Two clients have hooked into a fish that broke their 1x line leaving them with nothing but a surge of adrenaline, and a pounding heartbeat on their way back to the lodge to eat their sorrows away.

Stripping streamers and leech patterns have been most productive in the lake. Stealthy dry-fly presentations are also effective.  The Cutthroats will cruise the edges, and casting to these feeding fish on the prowl is both a challenging and rewarding experience.

Overall, the fishing really doesn’t get much better than it is right now.  Flows are stable, the water temperatures are great and the fish are loading up while food is in plentiful supply. Unlike public streams in the area, the fish at the ranch are not as educated and picky, which provides anglers of all skill levels a chance to hook into lots of fish, and maybe even, the fish of a lifetime. Don’t forget there’s also an opportunity to catch a “Grand Slam”-  landing one of every species found in the river: Rainbow, Brown, Cutthroat and Brook trout. If you’re on the fence about where to plan your next fishing adventure, book your trip now before the season fills up. We still have a few slots left.

    What People Are Saying

I’ve been to several fishing lodges and nothing compares to the privacy, solitude, and luxury of having an entire Ranch with rivers and lakes all to yourself. The guides were patient and excellent with our young son in helping him learn to cast and everyone in our group caught plenty of fish. Crystal Ranch is our new Utah favorite and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly incredible fly fishing experience.
    Can't Wait to Get Back
Just wanted to drop you a quick line to thank you for letting me share your wonderful property on my trip to Utah. The land is amazing. The fishing was tremendous, and the staff and guides were world class. I hope to be able to visit the property again soon.

Kacie did an amazing job with the lodge/food and Morgan is one of the best guides I have ever had.  Fishing the Yellowstone River and the Spring Creek were in my personal “wheelhouse” since I truly enjoy fishing the dry-dropper rig in a freestone stream.
