Crystal Ranch Fly Fishing Report – June 19

High Water Carving new Holding Spots for Yellowstone River Trout

Record snowfall and a cool and lasting Spring have our runoff delayed several weeks. We’re in the middle of high water now. Flows over the last week on the Yellowstone River through the Crystal Ranch have been in the 1000 to 1200 CFS range. This isn’t quite as high as the water got last year, yet anyway.

The bad news, fishing isn’t great right now. The good news, high water on this dynamic river system tends to flush out silt and create amazing new holding water for the 4 species of trout that call the Yellowstone home. We saw it happen last year and we’re excited to see what the river gives us this year.

Runoff should continue into the first week or so of July, possibly a week longer. We have plenty of spots available for some incredible fishing on the Yellowstone and many other amazing trout streams in our area.

Be sure to book your Summer fly fishing adventure soon!

    What People Are Saying

I’ve been to several fishing lodges and nothing compares to the privacy, solitude, and luxury of having an entire Ranch with rivers and lakes all to yourself. The guides were patient and excellent with our young son in helping him learn to cast and everyone in our group caught plenty of fish. Crystal Ranch is our new Utah favorite and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly incredible fly fishing experience.

Kacie did an amazing job with the lodge/food and Morgan is one of the best guides I have ever had.  Fishing the Yellowstone River and the Spring Creek were in my personal “wheelhouse” since I truly enjoy fishing the dry-dropper rig in a freestone stream.

Just wanted to drop you a quick line to thank you for letting me share your wonderful property on my trip to Utah. The land is amazing. The fishing was tremendous, and the staff and guides were world class. I hope to be able to visit the property again soon.
